\u201cImpossible Love\u201d is the guiding thread of this concert, embodied by three composers\nwhose lives were marked by unfulfilled passions. Franz Schubert, who never experienced\ntrue love; Johannes Brahms, deeply in love with Clara Schumann; and Ludwig van\nBeethoven, solitary and torn by contradictory emotions.<\/p>\n

These impossible loves, these restrained tendernesses, infuse their music with a deeply\nmoving beauty. The Sonata No. 3 in A major, Op. 69, is the first work in which cello and\npiano engage as equals, and it remains perhaps the most popular of Beethoven\u2019s five cello\nsonatas.<\/p>\n

The Piano Trio No. 2 in E-flat major, Op. 100, is one of Schubert\u2019s final works, written\nbefore his untimely death at the age of 32. A flowing current of vitality and poetry, its slow\nmovement has been featured in numerous cinematic masterpieces, including the cult film Barry Lyndon by<\/em> Stanley Kubrick.<\/p>\n

To conclude in apotheosis, Brahms\u2019s Piano Quintet\u2014often regarded as the crown of his\nchamber music output\u2014stands as a pinnacle of the repertoire, blending passion, dramatic\ntension, and lyricism.<\/p>\n
