A little-known overture by the great master from Bonn opens the first edition of the Humans Festival. Home, homeland, earth, sky — these are what we all seek when we have not yet found them. Mendelssohn — Double Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Orchestra
A rarely performed gem composed when Mendelssohn was just 14 years old, this Double Concerto in D minor for violin, piano and string orchestra is one of the most beautiful surprises in the Romantic repertoire. Written with astonishing maturity, it already reveals the poetic vision and formal clarity that would make Mendelssohn one of the most beloved voices of his era. The two soloists interweave, challenge and complement each other in a dialogue full of grace and intensity, supported by a delicate and luminous orchestral texture.
